There are some ways through which you can get make your lips super soft and moist.
As I am a big big fan of nature, so in this blog post, I will only target some natural home remedies to treat dry lips. Also, I will discuss and share some lifestyle changes that can make your lips soft.
Dry Lips Causes ?
There is a thumb rule that you can not treat anything if you don’t know the reason behind it. So to treat chapped lips, you should know the underlying cause of it.
You might have cracked lips due to the following causes:
Dry Lips And Winters ❄️
Firstly, Your lips don’t have oil glands in them. It means they don’t produce oil naturally, and this is the leading cause of dry lips.
Secondly, comes the winters as the cause of dried lips. The cold air makes your lips cracked and chapped.
Nothing burns like the cold.— George R.R. Martin
There is less to no moisture in the air during winters. And when your skin fets exposure to that cold air, it also becomes dry.
Dehydration also contributes to cracked lips. As I mention earlier, your lips are more prone to dryness than other parts of your skin.
So whenever you face dehydration, it leaves its most effect on your beloved lips. Your lips don’t get enough water to moisturize them, so they dried out.
Stiff licking of lips ?
I have a bad habit of always licking my lips ?. And honestly, I feel sorry about this. ? This constant licking causes my lips to dry out even in summers.
You know when you excessively lick your lips, saliva from your tongue transfers to your lips. So what happens because of it? This saliva strips the moisture of your lips, which causes more dryness consequently.
And here I licked my lips 3 times, only writing this paragraph. ? Please, someone, make me stop doing this.
Chapped Lips Due To Vitamin Deficiency
You may also face dry lips if you have a deficiency of vitamins, specifically vitamin B. Vitamin B provides energy and moisture to your body.
So it contributes to your healthy skin. And any deficiency in it causes many skin problems, including dry and split lips.
Symptoms Of Parched Lips ?
Well, well, well, the signs of dry lips are quite visible. You may experience discomfort, stretches, cracks on your lips.
Other symptoms of chapped lips include:
- Difficulty in lips movement, i.e. speaking, eating.
Fun Fact the last symptom I don’t find on the web. I experienced it personally, so I thought it should be included in the list of dry lips symptoms.
Treatment Of Dry Lips
As I promised earlier that I will share natural ways for the treatment of your dry lips. Because the natural methods are light to your budget and also ensures no side effect after their application.
There are specific lifestyle changes that you can adopt to make your lips soft and smooth.
Drink Lots Of Water ?
Drink maximum water to ensure the proper hydration of your body. And when your body is fully hydrated, then your lips will not get dryness.
And yes, I know you have a hectic schedule and don’t find time to drink water after an hour. I also sometimes forget to drink water during the whole day. Again it is my bad habit. ?
But I have a tip for you by which you can drink maximum water. The suggestion is that Keep a water bottle with you wherever you go. And make sure to refill it after every 2 hours.
When I tried this tip, honestly, I experienced that I drink much water than usual.
Wear A Ski Mask Or Scarf ?
It is mostly seen that you tend to cover your hands and feet in winters when you go outside. But probably you don’t include your mouth.
This direct exposure to cold air causes dryness. To protect your lips from drying out, wear a ski mask or scarf that covers your mouth.
Stop Licking Your Lips ?
Don’t, don’t, don’t lick your lips. There are already different enemies of your lips, so don’t be one of them.
Stop licking your lips. By touching them, you are providing harm to them and making them cracky. Also, avoid biting your lips.
Introduce a humidifier
A humidifier is a device that provides moisture to your skin in winters. So use a humidifier to moisturize your lips.
Whether you are in-home or in-office, use a humidifier. Notably, while sleeping at night, turn on the humidifier.
Apply Before And Often
Before using any lip product ? such as lipstick or lip gloss, apply any lip balm to moisturize them.
I also apply vaseline on my lips before applying lipstick while going outside. It makes my lips soft and crack-free.
Also, make sure to apply lip balm on your face very often during your day. Apply in the morning, before going to bed, and several times during the day.
