If you want to get a fresh, glowing face in the morning, you have to remove your makeup before bed properly. Sleeping with makeup can lead to some serious skin problems like acne and blackheads, specifically if you have acne-prone skin like mine. So it is important to learn how to remove makeup properly and step by step so that no residue will be left on your skin, ensuring a youthful, healthy face.
In this article, I will share a simple step-by-step procedure on how to remove makeup, and if you want to remove makeup at home, there is an amazing guide on Natural Ways To Remove Makeup written by Stephanie. You can read it here.
How To Remove Makeup Step By Step
These are my tips on how to getting that nice dewy skin in the morning. So you don’t have to worry about bacteria growing all over your face when you’re not taking it off at night, so I always say the amount of time you take to put on your makeup.
You should use that same amount of time to take it up. So let’s get started.
Step 1: Wear A Headband
The first thing you need to do is to get your headband on. This keeps everything tidy, so your hair won’t get in the way.
Step 2: Remove Your Eye Makeup With
Also, if you have lashes on there, gently peel them off and then clean all your eye makeup off.
Makeup Removing Tip 1:
“Use Eye makeup remover with a Q-Tip.”
For this purpose, my top pick is Garnier eye makeup remover. You can apply it with a Q-tip. Q-tips are a great tool for removing eye makeup.
- Start on your upper lashes and then go underneath the lashes on the waterline and then onto the bottom lash line.
- You also want to make sure you get into all the nooks and crannies, where makeup can sometimes get stuck.
- Then flip the Q-tip over and do another quick swipe all over the eyes.
Step 3: Remove All The Makeup On Your Face Using Face Wipes
Now, you need to clean the rest of your face. For this purpose, I mostly use the Proactiv cleansing wipe. They will remove everything else like your foundation, concealer, eyebrow gel, lipstick, and so forth.
Using a cleansing wipe can really be helpful, especially if you want something easy and fast. And you want to be gentle all around the face, especially around the eyes.
So take your time and think of this as your end of the day relaxing time and you’re doing your face is so much good when you’re, taking off all your makeup.
Makeup Removing Tip 2:
“Flip Face Wipes And Use Both Sides”
- Once you are done on one side, flip the wipe over and use the other side.
- You’ll get more uses out of the wipes, and usually, one is more than enough.
Step 4: Wash Your Face
Now, for the final clean, rinse your face with some water. Then use any facial brush alongside La Roche Posay Foaming Gel Cleanser as a clear foaming gel cleanser to get a lather going.
Makeup Removing Tip 3:
“Use a facial brush for a deep clean.”
I love using my favorite brushes because it gives my skin that extra deep clean, and it feels so good using it when using that brush.
Go in circular motions all around the face, and when you have cleansed enough, rinse it all off and then pat dry.
Step 5: Use Facial Mist For Hydration
To prep your skin so it’s hydrated all night long, use a facial mist. I love using my derma e hydrating mist. I’ve been using this mist every day since I got it, and I love it so much. It feels refreshing, and it keeps my skin super moisturized.
Just a few sprays and patted it with your fingers, and this step is done.
Step 6: Apply Face Serum To Seal In Moisture
Next on the list is serum. I love my L’Oreal Paris Skincare Revitalift Derm Face Serum. You need to apply a few drops of it on your face.
This serum is a perfect fit if you have dry skin. You know that feeling when your skin feels super tight; that’s because it’s dry, so applying a serum can help with that.
Step 7: Apply A Moisturizer To Your Face And Neck
And the very last step is to moisturize. I love using my Proactiv complexion perfecting hydrator at night because it helps get rid of blemishes and keeps my skin hydrated.
Now, if you have acne-prone skin, there is an active ingredient in this moisturizer that helps fight acne and pimples, so it’s a double whammy, and after all of this, you have removed your makeup correctly.
I know that removing makeup can sometimes feel like a chore, but it’s important. You take off all your makeup before bed, take the time to do it properly now, and your skin will thank you in the years to come.
