Ways To Control Sebum Production Naturally Internally
I used to struggle with oily skin. I had to blot my skin, probably every hour. I had to touch up my makeup at least three times a day. I barely touch up my makeup nowadays. I just wanted to share everything that helped me manage and regulate the sebum production from the very root cause.
Properly Hydrate And Moisturize
Do you remember cause # 1 that I mentioned earlier, right? Oil-water balance in the skin is essential in sebum control. Moisturize with an oil-free product. You shouldn’t use alcohol-based products to give you the feeling of freshness.
The refreshing sensation is the coolest caused by the evaporation of moisture, making the skin quickly dry. Make sure to apply Moisturizer. Do not skip out on it to lower the skin’s Oil production.
It’s better to choose moisturizers. That can help you restore your skin’s moisture balance.! If you hydrate, the skin properly oil production will naturally decrease.
All of the substances that our body produces are there for a specific reason. The body produces sebum to lubricate and moisturize our skin naturally.
When you find the right balance of hydration and moisturization., On the other hand, the more you try to get rid of all the excess sebum on top of your skin by drying out your skin by using alcohol toner or mattifying lotions, sebum has the stronger purpose to come out to the world to lubricate and moisturize our skin naturally.
So eventually, your skin is going to become a little bit Oilier.
It is better to melt away sebum than extract it because this is less irritating on the skin.
Also, you need to properly get rid of dead skin to allow sebum to escape the pores. However, excessive exfoliation could make your skin drier and irritated. Remove makeup with low-irritating products that are effective in sebum control, blackhead removal, and exfoliation.
In particular, focus on the T-zone and use gentle circular, rolling motions to melt away excess sebum., Wash your face with a Mild product that is effective in removing sebum and dead skin. It would help if you didn’t use excessive cleansing tools for cleansing.

So choosing a cleanser is really important. So if you’re using a cleanser currently, that leaves your skin squeaky clean and tight. No, I highly recommend you guys switch the cleanser to a much gentler, non-foaming gel cleanser that is pH balanced.
And the normal skin’s Healthy pH is 4.5 to around 6. Look for a slightly acidic cleanser that doesn’t mess up with your skin’s natural pH. Another piece of advice that I want to give you regarding cleansing water is not leaving it on your skin. When they remain on your skin, surfactants keep dissolving oil, so your skin gets drier and drier and drier. So I highly recommend you guys to wash off any cleansers out of your face.
Oil Is Not Your Enemy
Oily to combination skin types tend to be deficient in Linoleic Acid, one of the fatty acid contents. So once you are deficient in this Linoleic Acid, what happens is that your sebum tends to produce a little bit more and a little bit gloopier stickier.
So it has a higher chance to clog the pore. So if you choose the right oil that is Linoleic Acid high and then low in Oleic Acid content, it can rebalance your skin by fueling through Linoleic Acid deficiency.
And it also moisturizes your skin by locking in the hydration that you already fed on. Some popular oils for oily skin type include Rosehip Seed oil, Hemp Seed oil, my favorite Pumpkin Seed Oil, Grape Seed Oil, Jojoba oil. And there are so many other beautiful oils that can really help your skin out in regulating and managing sebum production, or even producing your sebum in a significantly healthier and more fluid way., So do not be afraid of oil.
Use A Sebum Regulating Ingredient
Include a sebum regulating ingredient into your skincare routines, such as Niacinamide and Zinc.
It’s not only a good skin-brightening or hydrating or anti-aging ingredient, but it is also an excellent ingredient for regulating your sebum production.
It boosts the Ceramide production of your skin, which is a natural moisturizer, So your skin naturally stays more hydrated and more moisturized.
So, therefore, your sebum doesn’t need to come out to compensate for the dryness proactively. Again, go back to the number 1 rule by hydrating and adequately moisturizing your skin. Your skin can naturally regulate sebum production.
So you don’t need to necessarily use Niacinamide in specific As long as you hydrate and moisturize Your skin.
Zinc is very, very special because it is known to be a sebum inhibitor. It can be a little bit drying on drier skin types.
For sure., Zinc comes in many different forms, including zinc, PCA that you see in a lot of serums and skincare and even on anti-dandruff shampoos., And there is also Zinc Oxide, which is known to be a UV filter.
One study shows that using 1 % of Zinc PCA solution for four weeks significantly decreased the sebum production, But I think it’s. One ingredient that you can probably graduate from once your sebum is much regulated.
Your Diet Matters
Vitamin A and D are fat-soluble vitamins that affect our sebaceous gland, a production house that pumps out oil. So it can manage the sebum production as well.
Consuming plentiful vitamins and minerals helps reduce sebum production. Cabbage is high in vitamins and contains sulfur, which helps with irritation caused by acne Peaches, provide plenty of water to the body and regulates the balance of the fluids.
Also, peaches are very high in vitamins as well. Potatoes have a substance called beta-carotene, which suppresses sebum production and also cools the skin helping minimize pores.
Refined carbohydrates such as bread, pasta, and carbonated drinks increase blood sugar quickly when ingested. This increases insulin levels in the body and increased insulin, activates a hormone called androgen, this then increases sebum production., So try to stay away from these foods.
You can also take zinc in a supplement form or look into high-int zinc foods. It’s also going to work as a sebum inhibitor when you consume it. Meanwhile, you might also want to stay away from the foods that affect the sebaceous gland to pump out more sebum, which is sugar, and all sorts of sugary foods and high glycemic foods dairy.
These foods can also affect acne and trigger an inflammatory response in your body, affecting the skin cells, which eventually pumps out more gloopy sebum. It’s best to stay away or keep it at a deficient level in your diet. My skin is in a much better, happier: place.

Use Cooling Products
During the summer, your skin temperature rises quickly., However, using air conditioners or ice, which suddenly changes the skin’s Temperature, is not suitable and may irritate the skin’s Complexion. It would help if you lowered not only the skin’s outer Temperature but also the Temperature within.
A point of caution here is you need to look at the ingredients that cause these cooling effects. Many cooling products contain liquefied gas and alcohol. It might cool down the skin for a moment as it comes in contact with the skin, but it quickly evaporates, taking the gas and liquid away from the skin, making the skin feel cool.
But this is not good because it can irritate the skin and take away excess moisture. So if you guys are looking for cooling products, then make sure to check for these ingredients. It is essential to soothe your skin by using products that can calm heat irritation.
When using a sheet mask, store it in the refrigerator in advance to use for enhanced effects. When storing them, make sure the sheet masks are placed flat down so that the essence doesn’t all go to one side.
Sheet masks containing mild cooling ingredients can have a calming effect on irritated skin.
Another sebum care method is to use your makeup products properly. Makeup products are usually made up of oil-based ingredients, So be careful when using them.
